Overview

Practitioner-led advice, across the full lifecycle

Technology decisions are among the most consequential — and most expensive — an organisation makes. Yet the advice available is often tied to a product, a platform, or a delivery contract, which means the guidance you receive isn’t always the guidance that’s best for you.

We provide independent consulting and advisory across the full technology lifecycle — from the first question of what’s actually needed, through solution design and delivery oversight, to program assurance and go-live. That advice comes from practitioners who’ve delivered technology programs themselves.

Our role is to give the people making the decisions — boards, executives, and program sponsors — the clarity and confidence to act. Whether you’re setting direction, testing a plan, or checking that a program is on track, we bring experience and an honest, practical perspective.

Why Independent Advice

Why independence matters

The value of advice is directly proportional to the independence of the person giving it.

Nothing to sell but our judgement

We have no product to push, no platform to licence, and no delivery contract riding on the recommendation. Our only interest is giving you advice that’s right for your organisation.

Experience across many programs

We’ve advised on, delivered, and reviewed technology programs across a range of organisations and sectors. We know what good looks like — and we can quickly recognise the signals that suggest something isn’t right.

Practical, actionable findings

Our advice produces clear conclusions and practical next steps — not a generic report. You’ll know exactly where things stand and what needs to happen next.

From our track record — Technology Strategy & Selection

A major ASX-listed property group set out to replace a range of disparate applications with a single unified platform. We shaped the system strategy and led the selection — capturing requirements, running vendor engagements through RFI and RFP, coordinating a structured, scenario-based evaluation, and drafting the business case for Executive and Board approval.

When To Engage

Signs it may be time for an independent view

Independent advice is most valuable whenever there’s genuine uncertainty about how a program is really tracking, or about what to decide next — and it doesn’t require a program in crisis.

The best time to bring in an independent view is before problems become critical — when there’s still time to act. The signals below are usually visible well before that point.

Common triggers

You’re evaluating new systems, vendors or platforms and want an objective view before committing

Program reporting feels too positive relative to what’s being experienced

Timeline or budget overruns with unclear explanation

A board or executive needing independent confidence in a program

Concerns about a vendor’s capability or delivery approach

A new leader needing an independent view of a program they have inherited

How We Work

How we work

Structured, evidence-based, and delivered with discretion.

01

Scope & brief

A clear brief on what you need, what access we’ll have, and what the output should look like — agreed upfront.

02

Review & assess

Document review, conversations with key people, and direct observation — gathering the evidence systematically.

03

Findings & recommendations

Clear findings and practical recommendations, supported by evidence and presented directly — with no agenda behind them.

04

Support & follow-through

We don’t disappear after the recommendation. If required, we remain involved through decisions, planning and implementation.

Typical Outputs

Executive briefings, assurance reports, health checks, risk assessments, board papers, recommendations and implementation roadmaps.

Every engagement is led by senior practitioners with hands-on experience delivering technology programs across property, banking, finance and construction — including John Nelson (Principal), Effie Nikolaros and Renay Tindale — not junior analysts working from a template.

Talk to us in confidence

Advisory conversations are handled with discretion. Tell us what’s on your mind and we’ll give you an honest view.
